Prithviraj Chauhan lost Ajmer to Sultan Muhammad Ghori in 1193 A.D. This is how the Muslim history of Ajmer started. In 1192, Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti, the renowned Persian saint accompanied Muhammad Ghori from Persia and settled in the city. His burial site is referred to as the Dargah Sharif. Humayun completed the construction of the shrine. Nizam of Hyderabad added the gates. Later Shah Jahan constructed a mosque of white marble and added 11 arches.
