Taj Mahal – The ivorywhite marble edifice is beautifully located on the south bank of the Yamuna river. Built in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, Taj Mahal houses the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The 42acre complex is home to a mosque and a guest house. A crenellated wall encloses this splendid structure set in exquisitely landscaped gardens. It is believed that around 32 million rupees were spent in the construction of Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan employed 20,000 artisans under the main court architect Ustad Ahmad Lahauri and his team of architects.

Agra Fort – Designed and built by Akbar, the great Mughal ruler in 1565 A.D., Agra Fort was built as a military establishment. However, later the emperor’s successors integrated several additions to the main structure. Various palaces were built afterwards and around half of the structure was transformed into a magnanimous palace.

It served as the seat of Maharaja Jai Singh II during the 1720. The largest of the five observatories, Jantar Mantar is home the world’s largest sundial.

Hawa Mahal – The Palace of Winds is a prominent landmark in the Pink City, Jaipur. Constructed in 1799 as an extension to the Royal City Palace of Jaipur, the place served as a recreational place for the royal ladies who observed “pardah”. Day 05 / Delhi – Bhubaneshwar (by Flight)
